My grandfather – the sailor

| |

This is my handsome grandfather Leif. He used to be a sailor for many years, and has traveled the world. When I was little, he used to bring me souvenir dolls from all over the world. This made me curious about other cultures. He also told me stories from his different journeys, and the amazing thing about my grandfather was that he could remember almost everything exactly. Which year he traveled through the Suez Canal, which year he almost bled to death in Durban, South Africa, and what happened when his ship was torpedoed during WW2. After he retired we tried to count how many countries he had visited during his lifetime. The conclusion was almost every country with a cost line, adding up to around 137. I have some travelling to do, to catch up with my grandfather…
